  1. toptable Unveils Major Update to Android App

    toptable_androidtoptable, the leading consumer destination site for restaurant bookings in the UK along with its parent company, OpenTable, Inc. (NASDAQ: OPEN), today announced the release of a major update to its free app for Android mobile devices.  The new app, which is now available in the Google Play store, provides an enhanced booking experience for diners looking to book the perfect table at approximately 4,000 restaurants across the UK.

    The new toptable Android app allows diners to search for available tables nearby using geolocation or in a specified neighbourhood, make an instantly confirmed booking and discover new restaurants through a convenient and easy to navigate design.  The new ‘Great Tables’ feature showcases highly rated restaurants with availability according to the specified search criteria, right on the start screen. Diners may also view mobile optimised menus, browse popular dish photos from Foodspotting and read reviews from other verified toptable diners.

    The new toptable app for Android makes it simple for diners to instantly find and make a confirmed restaurant booking with a tap of their phone.  The app’s geolocation feature makes it easy to find available tables nearby according to a diner’s desired date, time and party size.  Using the app’s refine feature, diners can further filter their search results by location, cuisine, price and special offers.  The new app also provides instant access to photos, menus, reviews, maps and directions.  toptable members may view upcoming reservations from the app and earn dining points  for each booking.

    toptable continues to see a growing number of diners booking via mobile devices. During the second quarter of 2013, mobile bookings accounted for 28 percent of toptable diners seated in the UK.     toptable, the leading consumer destination site for restaurant bookings in the UK along with its parent company, OpenTable (NASDAQ: OPEN) today announced it has expanded its portfolio of mobile applications with the release of a free, new app for Windows Phone 8. The toptable app is now available in the Windows Phone Store.

    The new app is packed with features to help diners discover the perfect table and make an instantly confirmed booking. Flick through Foodspotting photos of popular dishes, view beautifully optimised online menus and read reviews from other toptable diners. A quick swipe from the home page displays real-time availability at nearby restaurants and recently viewed destinations.

    “Mobile now accounts for a significant part of our business and is a major area of emphasis for our developers,” said Mike Xenakis, Managing Director, OpenTable International. “The new toptable app for Windows Phone 8 makes finding and booking a restaurant on the go incredibly quick and easy.     To make a restaurant booking through the toptable app, choose a date, time and party size to see available tables. Search results display in list view or on a map and can be filtered by area, cuisine, price or special offers.  Select a table by tapping the available time. The confirmed booking can then be added to the diner’s calendar or pinned to the start screen. toptable members may view upcoming reservations and saved favourites with a quick swipe from the home page.

    Mobile bookings now account for 25 percent of toptable diners seated in the UK, up from 20 percent in the fourth quarter of 2012.     toptable, the leading consumer destination site for restaurant reservations in the UK, together with its parent company, OpenTable,  today announced the release of a major update to its popular app for iPhone and iPod touch, adding new features and functionality to take advantage of the 4-inch Retina display on iPhone 5 and the new iPod touch.

    The new toptable app makes it even easier to discover where to dine and make an instantly confirmed, free booking. The “Great Tables” carousel showcases nearby restaurants with availability and a pull-down interactive map lets users easily browse restaurants by location. A quick tap to the pins displayed on the map reveals table availability in real time.

    “We are continually looking at ways to improve how diners discover and book restaurants from their mobile devices. The larger display on iPhone 5 and the new iPod touch allowed us to add even more search features and visual elements,” said Mike Xenakis, Managing Director for OpenTable Europe. “More and more diners are booking restaurants on the go. In the third quarter, mobile bookings accounted for more than 20 per cent of the diners we seated in the UK.”

    The update also introduces larger photos in search results, better default locations, and a wealth of Retina-quality images. toptable allows visitors to make free restaurant bookings at nearly 4,000 top restaurants in the UK. Users can search by restaurant name or location, then further filter by cuisine, price, reservation time, or even offers. toptable members can save restaurants to a “favourites list” to book at a later date.
