Power of the Flower: OpenTable and The Refinery take plant-based to the next level with limited-edition floral menu

LONDON – 17th May 2019: As the flower show season gets into full swing, foodie and flower fans are invited for a taste of London’s first vegan floral menu as OpenTable and The Refinery team up to launch the Open Garden menu.

The world’s leading restaurant booking service has partnered with retro-chic cocktail bar & restaurant The Refinery Bankside to create the ultimate 3-course menu to step into spring with. With edible flowers moving from outdoor parks to dinner plates, The Open Garden Menu will be made up of 100% flora and fauna as Drake & Morgan’s Executive Head Chef Rob Mitchell teams beautiful blossoms with this season’s freshest plant-based produce. Even the menu is made from seeded paper so diners can take it away and grow their own plants at home.

The 3-course menu available to book from 21st – 26th May will kick off with succulent starters including Tomato Salad with Flowers, Za’atar and Farro and Beetroot Apple Sunchoke Salad on Beetroot Rösti with Spring Flowers.

The eye-catching menu’s main event sees Hyderabadi Biryani of Vegetables in a Summer Squash Shell, Crispy Chickpea Cake, Butternut Squash, Pickled Celery, Polenta and Pumpkin Mole, and the lighter Watermelon and vegan Feta Salad with Heirloom Tomato and Pistachio grace the menu.

Finally, diners can opt for something sweet and colourful with a choice of Sherry-Roasted Strawberries with Vanilla Date Pistachio Muesli and Flowers, alternatively the Indian Mango, Passion Fruit and Mint Pavlova with Basil Cress and Cardamom or indulge with the Cherry and Chocolate Dome with Violas to settle the sugar cravings.

Diners can wash down the three courses with a drink from The Refinery’s specially created Chelsea Flower Show garden menu, whilst sitting back and relaxing on the terrace Gin Garden created by RHS Chelsea Flower Show People’s choice winner 2018 David Neale and Silent Pool. The clean juniper-driven gin infused with delicate flavours of lavender and chamomile will taste like a sip straight from nature.

The limited edition Open Garden menu will be available to book exclusively through the OpenTable website https://www.opentable.co.uk/r/the-refinery-london from the 21st – 26th May. Diners can opt for a 3-course menu at £27 or 2-courses at £21.
